Departures is a working set, not a status lane
Your words, 13 Jul: "I'm selecting this as the session I'm sitting down to do now." A card here carries an action plan — 2–4 concrete moves ordered by leverage. Claude drafts the plan; you accept, edit, reorder, delete. Nothing fires until you fire it.
The Floor is project lanes
v5 lesson, 13 Jul: the Floor was a flat pile sorted by urgency × importance — it could tell you what was screaming, but not how Money was going, and eleven ungrouped cards read as noise. Now every card sits in its project's lane, with the project's importance score, next deadline and steps-done on the header. Projects finally have a home. Colour carries the zone: DO FIRST in red caps, chip away in amber, delegate and parked in blue.
The bar means one thing now
It used to mean two — days of runway for steps, importance × 10 for ideas — with no legend anywhere. That's why you couldn't read it. It now means only: how much time is left before the deadline. Full red = late. Ideas have no deadline, so they get no bar.
Nothing fires blind
v3 lesson, 13 Jul: every move opened straight onto the clipboard, so you pasted a brief you'd never seen. Now every move opens an editable form first — the brief, the research question, the length of the block, the four quadrants. You see the exact text before it goes anywhere, and you can rewrite any of it. Click any move's grey line to reword it.
The thinking move
Your four quadrants — positives · opportunities · dangers · questions — with one import from the IBM four-quadrant decision method: Dangers also asks what you lose by not doing it, because that's where ideas quietly die. SWOT was considered and dropped — a raw idea has no "internal" to have strengths in. Claude can draft the four; they're yours to overwrite, and once saved they ride along in every brief this card produces.
Seven moves, and only seven
Think · hot chat · research · email draft · calendar block · build brief · loop. A fixed vocabulary so the plan generator has something real to reason with, and so you never face a blank page. Email and calendar open a prefilled tab you send yourself; chat and build hand you a briefing to paste.
The headline is the status
